If you’re stopping in today for the first time, you don’t know yet where we are coming from with this renovation project!!
I have been dreaming about so many Instagram perfect laundry and mud rooms, but after renovating the entire house, we decided to create a simple, yet practical and fresh laundry room. So this might not be the ultimate laundry room, but it’s perfect for our family!
Since the room is quite small, we decided not to add an entire wall of built-in cabinetry, because this would have made the room look even smaller. Instead, we decided to install regular kitchen-like cabinets with recess lights to brighten the countertop area. The Ikea SEKTION cabinets were the perfect budget friendly solution for this room.
I also must mention the glossy white color of these cabinets. The color is bright and modern, and I couldn’t love it any more. I am so glad I went with white cabinets in this room because it makes the room look bigger and just by changing the color of the wall, the room can have a complete different vibe!
For our countertop, I chose a leathered ‘grey/white/burgandy’ granite from APEX Marble and Granite. This piece was from their stock remnant inventory, and the color matched so well with the wall and floor color I had already picked!
Selecting a piece from an inventory can also save you some $!
My laundry applicances
I like boldly colored appliances, and tried to coordinate them with the rest of my decor.
I picked this two stainless platinum Samsung appliances. I have been using them for about 2 years now and absolutely love them!
This is why I like my appliances:
Samsung Washer - WF42H5200
- Capacity: 4.2 cu. ft. Greater tub size means fewer loads, and fewer loads means more time doing other things!
- VRT Technology (vibration Reduction Technology) meaning noise reduced to an incredibly low level!
- The self-clean technology keeps the washer tub fresh by removing dirt and bacteria without the use of harsh chemicals.
Samsung Dryer - DV42H5200
- Capacity: 7.5 cu. ft. ! This is all I need for my king size bedding!
- Eco-friendly and energy-efficient.
- Sensor Dry – Optimizes the time and temperature to dry clothes thoroughly, avoiding heat damage.
- Steam Dry – Steam away Wrinkles! Now, I only iron shirts.

Stacked appliances can save space, but let’s be honest, I am 5′ 3, so using a step stool to reach the top controls was not an option!! This is why I went for front-loading appliances.
This way, my daughter also participates! She loves putting the clothes in and out!
Laundry rooms aren’t always just about washing and drying clothes. I like to keep light bulbs, art and craft material, etc. While you’re planning your remodel, think about the other functions you want your laundry room to serve and make sure you create room for those things.
Also the way you wash, dry and fold clothes will dictate how your new space functions.
I personally like dumping clothes onto the sofa so I can watch TV while I fold…
Even if you follow along my story, you might not know yet that I love animals of all sorts! Please meet our fury baby Leon! He was desperately looking for attention when I was shooting the laundry room, so I thought it was a great time to make his introduction!
I still need to put some finishing touches to the laundry room. I am in search of the perfect (artificial) potted plant or flower. I am also planning on adding a countertop above the washer and dryer.
Now that the room is inviting, organized, and functional, I find myself taking joy in laundry and daily chores.
