Hi & Happy Friday! Lately, I’ve been working on the posts for one of my favorite makeover of the house – THE KITCHEN!!! I can’t wait to share it with you!

I have had the chance to design a few kitchens in the past 10 years, but it was for rental properties, so all of the decisions were made with possible resale and budget in mind! Can you believe I never had the chance to design my own kitchen before?

While my kitchen is now finished, I thought it’d be fun to share with you today some inspiration & elements that are essential for me in a kitchen.

Let’s get rolling with my kitchen makeover must-haves starting with…

A farmhouse sink has the power to evoke feelings of nostalgia ! I grew up in the countryside and my parent’s home had a beautiful black farmhouse sink. It’s definitely a dramatic focal point that I wanted to include in my kitchen remodel!

I love a big beautiful, single-basin! It’s so easy to fill and clean large pots & pans. And the farmhouse sink comes in fun materials including porcelain, enameled cast iron, stainless steel, copper, marble, and more.

Pendant lights not only bring useful illumination to a kitchen island but also make a statement in any decor. They come in so many different shapes, styles and finishes… The options are endless! (And the $ too!). You can coordinate them with other fixtures and finishes in the room. With pendant fixtures the sky is the limit!

While we always sit around the table for dinner, I loved having barstools for breakfasts and lunches! It’s also great when you are cooking, to have your guests around and share a glass of wine.

There is nothing I love more than two-toned kitchen cabinets! It adds some visual interest and drama to the cooking space. By installing dark cabinets on the bottom, and using brighter cabinets above the kitchen counter, the result is an illusion of a larger kitchen space. The final goal is to create a cohesive and inviting space with the perfect amount of contrast.

In the kitchen, there are always things that get lost or misplaced and without a good system to keep everything in place, it’s easy to get buried under a mountain of mess. (Even more with kids arounds…) With drawer organizers, it’s easier to make the most of the space! I use organizers all over my house! I store utensils I usually use, dishes and all the spice jars!

But everyone’s kitchen needs and setup are different. What works for my family won’t necessarily work for another. But I feel like drawer organizers are always a great start!

Don’t get me going on all the benefits of having a faucet sprayer! It makes life so much easier!

It makes washing dishes and food preparation so convenient, and it also saves water! Instead of letting the water run to fill a pot, you can use the extension of your faucet to clean it. No more frustration!! And you also maximize your time.

So now that you have seen my kitchen inspiration and thoughts, I’d love your input! What do you think of the two-toned kitchen cabinet trend? Will you consider trying it out in your own home? I’d love to know the things that you have in your kitchen that you couldn’t live without or things that are on your kitchen wish list.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
