No space is useless!! Sometimes you need to think outside the box and let your imagination run wild!
As we were redoing our basement, the topic of the stairs came up. We needed to keep an access (right side of the picture) for the laundry room plumbing and electric.
Our first idea was to create a hidden access and keep the space for storage. Not too exciting right?
What does this space inspire you? What would you do with it?!
One night, I was daydreaming about this space, trying to figure out a way to make it useful, fun and nice!
I wanted my daughter to have her little corner in the basement (my husband’s “Man Cave”) where she could play, hide out and use her imagination. So I opened Pinterest and typed “under stairs playhouse” and my mind started racing!
Playhouses & treehouses are every kids dream, right?!
Playhouse Inspiration Pictures
This project is near and dear to my heart! What young girl (or “older girl,” like me…) wouldn’t love having her own little playhouse like this?
I won’t be able to go too crazy with this long, narrow under-the-stairs closet. Yet, I am going to try to make this space dreamy, Montessori-like.
I am going to have to find the perfect balance between storage space and play space. Hopefully, I will come up with the perfect solution.
Please, don’t be impressed by my drawing skills! …
Yes, those are my daughter’s crayons! Sometimes you have to do what you have to do… 🙂
I would have adored a little nook like that when I was a kid, and I’m guessing my daughter would be equally smitten with such a space!
Do you have a space like this in your house? What did you do with it?!
